Albuquerque, NM. May 7,
2004 – Alternative Link announced today that Synthia Molina executive officer,
will speak at the TEPR (Towards an Electronic Patient Record) 20th Annual
Conference and Exhibition in Fort Lauderdale on May 19th. Ms.
Molina will make her presentation on the compelling and timely topic,
“Delivering Integrative Healthcare Under Consumer-Driven Health Plans: An ABC
Coding Case Study.”
The
presentation will be given at the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Broward Convention
Center beginning at 4:20 p.m. The
three-day trade show and conference, sponsored by the Medical Records
Institute, brings together 3,500 healthcare technology professionals focused on
efforts to maximize the quality, implementation and confidentiality of
electronic health records.
“We’re
both honored and excited to be speaking at one of the industry’s leading health
technology conferences,” said Ms Molina, whose company originated ABC codes for
integrative healthcare practices and disciplines. “Consumer driven health plans
carry tremendous promise to control healthcare costs and improve quality of
care, but less so without the more widespread adoption of codes that reflect
the American consumer’s movement to non-traditional medical practitioners.”
In
her presentation, Ms. Molina will highlight a case study of the nation’s only
system for automatically processing insurance claims for integrative
healthcare, deployed by Bridges in Medicine Healthcare, Inc. and Lovelace
Sandia Health System. She will detail how economic and health outcomes of care
are being improved so that more beneficiaries are able to receive better care
at a lower cost.
In addition, Ms. Molina will discuss how ABC codes support the financing, administration and delivery of care
and help advance best practices and evidence-based medicine.
Alternative
Link developed the only comprehensive code set for integrative healthcare. The
codes reflect chiropractic, massage and acupuncture practices, as well as care
delivered by nurses, holistic physicians and others. They
are supported by practitioner identifiers, relative value units and legal
practice guidelines and support cash pay practices and both mainstream and
consumer-driven health plans.
Alternative Link has been influential in promoting the use of ABC codes in healthcare research, management and
commerce. In addition to
supporting insurance billing, the codes improve tracking, analysis and
reporting of care, so the best practices of conventional, complementary and
alternative care can be made available to consumers.
